John 3:16

A free gift? Yeah right! Nothing in this world is really free, and if it was, it would hardly be worth anything at all.

Well, that may be true of much in our world today, but there is a gift that we would like to present to you, it is the gift of eternal life.

If you really want to get God and have Jesus Christ in your life, working, helping, and living within you, and ensure your place in His kingdom for all eternity, it is simple, just pray this prayer, mean it with all your heart, and be willing to change for the better.

Every single one of us at one time or another senses a desire to be "complete" or "whole." Many folks go through life trying to fill that desire on their own; some turn to drugs, others alcohol, some sex, and yet others pursue monetary gain to fulfill this deep need within. Every avenue that is tried falls short, and leaves us still searching.

The Bible (God's Word to us) gives some real insight into the problem. The Bible tells us that we have all "missed the mark" and fall short of God's glory. A book with the Bible titled "Romans" tells us in chapter 3 verse 23 that; "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God"

Many of you will remember hearing about the 10 commandments, or some of them. The Bible verse indicated above tells us that we have all broken them. Most of us do not have to think very long before we are quite sure that we have broken some, if not most, of the commandments.

The Bible continues with some rather disturbing news coupled with hope. In the same book of "Romans", we are also told in chapter 6 verse 23 that "the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus."

In addition to this, God tells us in the book of Isaiah in chapter 57 verse 21, "There is no peace", says my God, "for the wicked." God is telling us that as long as you sin, you will have no peace. In order to have peace, you must give give up your sins. In addition to this, in the book of Proverbs, chapter 13 verse 5, the Bible says "The righteous hate what is false, but the wicked bring shame and disgrace." Here God is telling us that those who sin are looked down upon, they bring shame and disgrace upon themselves.

God also tells us the fate of those who sin. In the book of Revelation, chapter 21 verse 8, God tells us "But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars - their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur."

This verse from the Bible is letting us know that the penalty for sin is death! This is rather disturbing, since we have all sinned. Who wants to look forward to death? This verse also gives us some hope. We are told that there is a gift from God, and that this gift is eternal life in Jesus Christ. WOW! There is hope!

So, you have made it this far. Maybe you think that you have sinned so much that you can not be saved. The Bible tells us that no matter how much you have sinned in your life, that you can be saved. In the book of 1 Timothy, chapter 1, verses 15 and 16 the Bible tells us: Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners -- of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on him and receive eternal life. This tells us that even the worst of sinners can be saved if they repent and accept Chrsit Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

Now, if there is a gift to be given, and that gift is eternal life, then we had better investigate to find out how we can have this. If we keep reading the Bible, and in the same book of "Romans", we find it there in chapter 10 verses 9 and 10. The Bible says here; that if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

There you have it! The Bible gives us the answer. We are told that if we believe in our heart, that after Jesus died on the cross, His Father raised Him from the dead, and then confess, or tell it, we are saved, and we then receive the gift of eternal life! Fantastic!

In the book of 1 John, chapter 1 verse 9, we are told, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." In order to be saved by God, we have to confess our sins. When we do that, God will forgive us and purify us. You must confess first and mean it.

If you are reading this, and you know that you need Jesus, why not pray right now and ask Jesus to forgive your sin, and give you eternal life right now. It is not very hard to do. Say a prayer like this, and if you mean it from your heart, your sins will be forgiven, and you will get your free gift, the free gift of eternal life in Jesus Christ.

Dear Lord Jesus, I now realize that I am a sinner, and I truly believe with my whole heart that I can not be saved without you. I know that you died on the cross, and shed your blood to pay for my sins, and for that I thank you. I come to you now Jesus, with an open heart, and ask that you save me. I invite you, Holy Spirit, into my life to dwell inside me, changing my heart, mind, and lifestyle to make me more like you. I accept you as my Personal Lord and Saviour and ask that you help me walk in your ways all the days of my life. In the name of Jesus Christ, AMEN!
